Timo was still renovating the former aviary to be our new chicken and duck house.
Ducks on the up left. chooks in the low right. Up right is a storage space for timber. Later we found out that this is not a good idea ...
There is a little dor behind the chicken's house that they can use to go in and out. On the right there is a compost heap.
Tomatoes and herbs growing next to the back patio.
We bought Chinese brushwood fence and covered the old timber fence with it. Landsscaped the area and transplanted some bushes and trees. Wish they will grow and offer some more privacy and shade.
Two white chooks and one black. One hairy-legged-girl. Roosters not allowed in town unfortunately.
Finns of Townsville in 2004, and their families. The lady in the middle Kaija MesiƤinen celebrated her 80th birthday then. In November 2006 she passed away after battling cancer for a few months. We remember her as a very nice lady that was always so friendly.
Nice red and yellow kanna's were growing next to the fence and tomatoes.
Stackhorn plant was growing attached to a palm tree. When the tree was removed the stackhorn was saved.
We tried to grow these Nepenthes pitcher plants but they didn't succeed.
A little private railroad for sugar cane transport. Our house is about 2 kilometres towards the mountains. Timo took this pictures while cycling home from work.
We bought a sugarcane plant of species padilla.
Planted some bamboos next to the chook pen and back neighbour's fence.
Buddha belly bamboo. Could be Timo's belly too these days ...
Coconut tree in the chook pen produces lots of coconuts. But how to get them down ? Would need a monkey to help us.
Again Timo cycling from work to home. Home is about 4 kilometres to the right towards the mountains.
Finally, just for Christmas, we got the front yard fenced so now the dog can be there too.
In November we also planted a banana. Well there should be a banana growing in a Queensland house.
In december all the nice tomatoes died. May be it was just too hot for them to survive.
Fence bot build fast and well even though the contractor wasn't very honest.
Green tree frogs next to the duck pond pump.
During the Christmas holidays Timo set up these lights and build a Singapore-style laundry drying system in the back patio.
Wet season coming and things growing. Those climbers are luffa (loofa).
When Timo told about the laundry system in is blog in Finnish he showed this picture from Singapore to show how they use those bamboo stakes in hdb flats.
Front yard used to belong to the cats. Now when fence was built the dogs use it too sometimes. Need to do some new arrangements.
