"Look at that cat! Just like Spartacus!". They display cats and dogs in pet shops. On the right a picture just to show Finns how supermarket checkout works. It's different in Finland. There you pack things yourself and pay for plastic bags.
Timo using his camera phone in the shopping centre.
Morning cuddles to the boy cats before breakfast.
Kitchen renovation progressing.
We got 3 ducks now. We brought one from Woodstock. Here they are: Trudi, Mavis and Elvis.
Bluey wants to look at the chicken all the time.
Things growing more.
Banana plant is big already.
Nice flowers.
Dogs enjoying the attention. Timo is building new work table in the patio and put the dogs bed there just to sit on it while painting. The dogs thought it's for them.
Here's the result. The back patio as extension to the kitchen.
In April we adopted new black chook from RSPCA.
Timo ordered a truck load of mulch. It had to be left down outside the fence. So he had to carry all uphill to the garden. There was a Finnish packbacker helping us for one day. Thanks Tiina!
In april we got rangehood and dishwasher installed. Finally after six month's wait. The metal shelves actually are better than closed cabinets. You can find things easier. And if you put everything in transparent glass or plastic jar you can see when you are about to run out of something. Initially we "had to" choose the metal shelves because the cabinet maker (a chinese man from the company Jade Cabinets) was always too busy to serve us. He promised to start the work before the Chinese New Year (2007). When he was more than 6 weeks late from that, we started getting these Elfa shelving modules. They are quite easy to mount since you need only to attach a metal band on the wall. The shelving itself hangs on to that metal band and leans against the wall. So it's easy to alter the system and even remove it when you move house.
In March we discovered Misu having some scratch marks on him. We thought they are from fights with other cats. When they were not heeling we brought the cat to the vet. He told that they were stress symptoms and gave a hormone shot to him plus a few tablets of antibiotics.
A fence with flowerbed is to separate dogs' area from cats' area in the front yard. Actually the fence looks quite glumsy. It's made by Timo. Anyway we plan to cover it with plants. On the left where the house is we can't plant anything on the goround (because of termites) so there will be potted herbs only. On the right there will be various flowers, like the kanna's that we transplanted from the Maxi's corner
This picture demonstrates more the idea of using back patio as extension of the kitchen. You just open the patio door and can access some appliances like water kettle, toaster, coffee grinder. Also jars and bottles plus numerous other items are stored there. There's also another fridge there. And there is a gas barbeque, smaller gas cooker for Timo's espresso. Round the corner, behind the window there is the work table with some storage shelves.
Old pictures from 2003 when we got our first car. We still have it and Nancy is driving it. It had some problems in March and Nancy wanted to get a new car. Finally it appeared that the new mechanic she was using cheated her by mistuning the ignition and lying about defects in the car. She brought it back to the old mechanic who corrected the errors and told there's nothing wrong with the car. One thing in Australia that we don't like is that there are so many dishonest and unfriendly people. or are they just in Cairns?
Our yard in Woodstock in 2004. So often we miss the place. Wish we could have it in Cairns on 5 acres land.
