Elvis is Khaki Gampbell, derived from Indian Runner. Mavis is a Muscovy duck, that is actually closer to a goose than duck, we were told.
Mid October we celebrated Nancy's birthday by going to one day Barrier Reef cruise. We were snorkling and riding in a boat with glsss walls allowing us to see the underwater world.
Scenes were nice but not as marvellous as this. This is from some booklet for tourists. Probably you can get better views if you go further to the sea for 3 to 5 day trip.
When we drove back from the boat trip we saw a little possum on the road. It was running to the road trying to cross it. We took it with us because we thought it doesn't have a mother to take care of it. We kept it in a cats' cage and were feeding it. Then we built an outside cage for it and let it run free at nights. It came back to the cage to sleep. Then one night it didn't come back but disappeared. Though for several weeks afterwards we could hear it (or some other possu, but likely this) running inside to roof. But we never saw it again. Before it used to come to Nancy when she called it.
This is the little house that Timo built for the possum in the outside cage next to the chicken pen. Nancy sew a little pouch for it too. We hanged the pouch in the house. The little possum used to climb into the pouch to sleep.
Our chooks were laying quite often. Sometimes hatching was successfull but not so often. Here we see two mothers. Each of them got one baby. Later both of the babies and one mother were taken by python.
We were given 4 Chinese silk chicken. All of them ended up to Maxi's stomach.
Our 2 roosters (brothers) became more and more handsome every day.
